In the News Again

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

The Dave Matthews Band keeps getting into the news lately. Unfortunately, this isn’t necessarily the kind of news that he had hoped to be getting in on. He’d much rather be a person who can help relieve world hunger and that kind of thing. Instead, it’s the John Edwards story. Apparently, according to someone who says they know, John Edwards told his mistress that they would eventually have a rooftop wedding with the Dave Matthews Band doing the music. He’d pull some strings to get it to happen (legally, I mean). This would probably be after his wife lost her battle with illness? Anyway, it’s a testament to the level of this band that even former Senator John Edwards knows who the DMB is!

DMB Version 2009

When the Dave Matthews Band takes the stage, there are always interesting people to see all around. The fun that you can have at the concert is better than at most other concerts. His current tour is a lot more like his earlier ones were. In case you haven’t been following the groups career so closely, they were really interesting and different before. But then they became famous and started to coast, playing a little bit forumulaic. They remained popular, but people didn’t like the music as much and it didn’t seem to have the amount of heart that it used to. The DMB has become much better now after their difficult year last year. They’ve gone back to their roots and it’s a great time for anyone who gets to hear their newest work.

Dave and Kenny

Posted in: DMB

Dave Matthews and Kenny Chesney collaborated earlier this year and put out a song called “I’m Alive”. It was a standalone for the DMB and it hit the charts on the country side. This wasn’t an expected result. It had been hoped that the band would sound good with Chesney, and Dave and Kenny’s voices sounded remarkably good together and we enjoyed the combination of their styles. They seem like very different performers, but they have a lot in common and they meshed well. Dave might be looking into more such collaborations, seeing as how well the first one went.

57 Shows

A young Dave Matthews fan is getting ready to see his favorite band in person for the 57th time. It seems ridiculous for Jason Wells, because he only started listening to them in 2000 and has seen him dozens of times now. He didn’t like them so much the first time he saw them, but it’s grown on him over the years. Now, whenever he sees them, he goes there earlier in the day with his buddies so that he can meet up with other fans and have a little party. This is the model DMB fan. We should all aspire to being this kind of fan, and many of us already are. It’s always cool to hear about this kind of fan and we wish him a lot of fun during the concert this evening.

In the Media

When Dave Matthews is back on the front pages, he’s talking about the interesting world of America and whether there is racism. He says that there is a lot of racism in America and that it’s not always completely obvious. Since he’s from South Africa, he has seen racism, and it was worse out there. But here in America, he has seen it too. He says that there is a lot of antagonism within the country towards the president because he’s African American. Way to go, Dave. Tell it like it is and work towards making things better. With his music, he can bring the world that message of understanding and fairness.

All the News

Posted in: DMB

There is a little bit of news from the Dave Matthews part of the world. But it’s all the same as before. It’s about the concert that they had to cancel on September 1st due to Dave’s bad voice. It’s still a little bit odd to think of him losing his voice in the midst of his major tour. He was sick, ok. But it’s his job to keep his voice intact. Anyhow, I don’t think that too many people are going to hold it against him because anyone can get sick. This way, they will get to hear him singing at his best rather than a scratchy-voiced version of him. It’ll be in a few weeks, but we hope that he will be feeling better than before.

Guess Who!

Would you believe who was sighted at the Dave Matthews concert? None other than Jennifer Aniston, with four of her friends. Who knew that she was a fan? Meanwhile, the article describes that she doesn’t look good anymore and that she got special treatment. First of all, she’s Jennifer Aniston, and it’s not a surprise that she might get special treatment, like getting to talk to the band. She probably has some kind of security too. Meanwhile, I’m sure the band was very flattered that she came, enjoyed the time, and told them that she really liked it. Anyway, this is another reason to go to a DMB concert, because you might get to see someone famous, right?

The Openers

During next weekends shows in Southern California, we will get to see Switchfoot playing music as the opening act for the Dave Matthews Band. They are talented and have been enjoying increased success as of late. No matter if you’ve never heard them before. They get you all warmed up for a great musical evening. Their upcoming album “Hello Hurricane” will be a very impressive one, it seems and hopefully it will be a lot of fun to listen to. All their previous albums have been great, so there’s no reason to think that their next one wont do the same. Don’t you enjoy warm up bands? Without one, the concert would seem kind of weird, wouldn’t it? They are a good way to get your music mind going and to hear some new young talent that you may not have heard yet.

First of September

For those of you who were planning to go to the Dave Matthews performance as the USANA Amphitheater on the 1st, you are probably wondering what happened. The lead singer, Mr. Matthews himself, ended up with a broken voice that evening. He went to the doctor and they told him to avoid being in the performance that particular evening. It’s too bad for those people who had tickets to see this show. But they will be performing on another date instead and ticket holders will most likely get into the show without trouble. He wouldn’t have sounded good that evening anyway, if his voice was as bad as he says it was! So you’ll get to see him later and then enjoy him at his best!

The New DMB

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

We’ve talked about this a few times over the last months, but it might be important to bring it back. The DMB had apparently been in kind of a rut for the last few years and the group has finally got themselves back into position as one of the foremost bands of their generation. In part this is because they have had to make do with a tough situation over the last year after the death in their family. But they have also done a lot of soul searching and gotten back to their classic style of music. We are really happy about this too, because we’ve been able to hear a lot of this great music both back then when they first started doing it and more recently too. How fun that their joy in music is back!
