The Dave Matthews Band is bringing out a new album following the success of their 2005 super hit album “Stand Up” and the work on the current album is taking more time than it was originally assumed to take. The new album has a special emphasize on the word Band and has total involvement from all its band members in every aspect of the album. The work on the album started very early during this year in Charlottesville and then shifted to Seattle in March. The composition of the songs are ready and the group is awaiting for Dave Matthews to write the lyrics which will only happen after the DMB completes their summer tour in early September. So, DMB fans will have to wait for some more time before they get to grab a copy of DMB’s new album.

It was during the first half of 1994 that Dave Matthews and his band members recorded their first ever RCA debut album and it was named as “Under the Table and Dreaming”. Dave Matthews Band was on its first official national tour just before the release of the album and the album got released on the 27th of September in 1994. The band was busy with their summer tour all across the US and also in Europe. Their popularity was slowly but surely growing and more and more people started taking notice of Dave Matthews Band. They performed for the second time at the H.O.R.T.E festival as well. All the while that they were on tour, their RCA debut album was selling like hot cakes and it attained four times platinum certificate from the RIAA by the fall of 2005.

The DMB started working on their second RCA album since fall 2005 and released this album “Crash” on April 30th, 1996. This album debuted at number two position in the Billboard 200 chart and the popularity of the first RCA album has made many people sit up and listen to their second RCA studio album. With the release of these two RCA albums, Dave Matthews Band became a household name all across US and the band got elevated to the national pop stardom position.

The Dave Matthews Band fans might have had a pretty good weekend last week as they had twin reasons to cheer about, one reason is that the summer tour of the Dave Matthews Band has been announced and the other being that the new album that the Dave Matthews Band is releasing is to be produced by Warner bros producer and A&R, Ron Cavallo. There is no doubt that Ron Cavallo is an accomplished producer and the works like Dookie, Greenway’s number one album; American Idiot, their recent album; Dizzy up The Girl by Goo Goo Doll and My Chemical Romance’s Black Parade are testimony that the Dave Matthews Band has made the right choice of putting Ron as the producer for their forthcoming album.

Ron Cavallo will be working closely with the Dave Matthews Band to make it one of the most successful albums and says that he wants to rock and have a ball while making the album. Ron is trying to bring in new sounds into the album which has not been seen or heard in the DMB’s albums earlier and will tell the band straight at their face, if he feels that it is not right somewhere. Tim Reynolds, long time collaborator of the DMB will also be putting his mind and soul for this new album.

Dave Matthews turned 41 today. When he was two years old, his family moved from Johannesburg, South Africa to Yorktown Heights. The family headed back to Johannesburg after John died. After all the family  returned to the States to live in Virginia after Dave finished high school.Hopefully as the DM in DMB celebrates the big 4-1, he won’t “eat too much (or) drink too much. Too Much!”

Tim Reynolds is happy to be a part of the East Coast urban sprawl yet again. The former Charlottesville resident is taking a breather from his renowned acoustic shows. Reynolds spent a chunk of his adolescence hopping from town to town in the Midwest. He settled in Charlottesville and called it his physical and musical home for 17 years before moving to Santa Fe, N.M. Reynolds now resides on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It was in Charlottesville in the 1980s where Reynolds first sparked TR3. Under the same name, a new and powerful TR3 returns in January 2008 (featuring bassist Mick Vaughn and drummer Dan Martier), ready to bring some carefully crafted electricity to East Coast venues. The trio will play at Richmond’s Capital Ale House tomorrow and at Charlottesville’s Satellite Ballroom on Saturday.

It is exactly South Africa which inspired Dave Matthews so much for music. However, Dave performed in this country quite rarely, and, perhaps, to the surprise of many, the guitarist’s final performance in 2007 took place in Gauteng, South Africa.  Is Dave planning to return back to South Africa? Will he perform there more often? Who knows… but it is quite typical for many stars to return back to the homeland after long years on the foreign land.

dmb.jpgDMB has not released any new albums for ages. They do not make music, and do not write songs. But why not sell your songs as ringtones for cell phones and get profits out of it? This is a good idea, especially for musicians who for this or that reason quitted their music career. That is what DMB is doing, and quite successfully.
