Contests and Drawings

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

Dave Matthews has a few different kinds of activities going on. For one thing, the band is teaming up with LiveNation and a few other organizations to run a big food drive. The drive is one of the best things to do, because you can always get a lot of different people to contribute. On top of that, they will be offering a variety of different prizes for a drawing that they will be having of names from those who have contributed a canned good. People can win tickets, swag and other great things through this drawing. Meanwhile, there will also be another contest, in which the winners could go on a cruise and see a concert on the beach. These different moves are good PR, but they’re also just good things to do, especially the part about food for the poor. In this economy, we can all do our part and the DMB is certainly doing it.

10,000 Lakes

Posted in: DMB

It was one of his most anticipated performances of the summer. Dave performed with his whole band at the 10,000 Lakes Festival last weekend. It was a lot of fun to see him, according to those who were there. There are many other places that you can see Dave, but at performances like that, it is much easier to be part of the performance. Not like you can get on the stage with them, but instead, you get to have a good time watching them up close. It’s not like being in a huge stadium where you’ll never have a chance of seeing the band (unless you’re right next to the stage) and you might as well be at home listening. Instead, at the festival, it a lot of fun to be there and enjoy it closely in person.

Don’t Be Such a Hater

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

There are a lot of people who really dislike the Dave Matthews Band and it has never been particularly clear why that’s the case. He’s not a bad guy and nor are the people who are in the band. It’s one of those odd things that his music is liked by people in a lot of other places and other situations than is generally respected by people in the music world. The DMB is a great band with great music. But they have had a few weird PR moments, including the tour bus in Chicago, and that has put their name in a bad light for some people. But there are lots of people who have never heard the music or have rarely heard the music and they don’t like it either, for some unknown reason. Just listen and you’ll understand much more about it and enjoy it!

Long Island

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

The Dave Matthews Band will finally be coming back to Jones Beach in Long Island, a nice venue in a great area of the world. This is the first time that they have been there in 12 years. The question is why they haven’t been there in such a long time. Do they have something against the Island? They certainly don’t have a problem with New York itself, because they play there very frequently, including the closing of last year’s tour and the beginning of this year’s. We hope that after their upcoming performance there they will decide to come more often, because it’s a great place for everyone to gather and enjoy the best music in the world!

The Live Show

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

When the Dave Matthews Band plays, you can be sure that they will have a great performance. It’s not that they’re simply the best in the business, but they are also great performers. Many bands have some off nights where they just don’t get into the groove or click the right way. But meanwhile, the DMB is always good. Their songs sound just as good no matter if they’re tired or just got into town. This article says that a bad night for them is when Dave has too much to drink and talks for a little too long between songs. This doesn’t matter all that much, however, because the music is just as good. I have definitely had this experience too, where DMB is really good everytime that I hear them no matter if it’s down in VA or elsewhere in the country.

Making No News

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

When the Dave Matthews Band is on the road, they don’t make much news, except in the places where they are actually playing. They are playing solid concerts in a lot of different places right now, and they are building new fans. With their newly found style that harkens back to their original music, the band is more popular than ever before. Have you had a chance to catch their concert yet? I have not, but I’ve heard from many friends how talented this group is. Yes there’s the chance in lineup a little bit, but they can’t be totally blamed for that. Their music speaks volumes about how wonderful they are as well, so let’s make sure to catch their concerts this summer as often as I can!

Bethel Woods Sell-Out

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

When I say “sell out” for the Bethel Woods Dave Matthews Band show, I don’t mean that in a mean way. In fact, selling out is good for DMB, because we’re talking about tickets for their show in August. Everyone is already flocking to see these shows and it’s a great year for the band. Whether you like their older stuff or their newer stuff, the shows that they are performing now include a variety of different music from their career. Bethel Woods is a beautiful venue to see shows and you can definitely have a good time. It has great sound for a show like Dave’s and it’s also just a lot of fun to be in that historical place, the location of the original Woodstock Music Festival.

H.O.R.D.E.

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

Dave’s band, as we call it, began to become famous during the H.O.R.D.E. concerts of the 90s. These concerts were the response to Lollapaloosa back at that time, trying to set up an alternate alternative scene. The difficulty in saying “that’s how they became famous!” is high, because everyone heard about this band from somewhere else. But it’s not hard to see where the general movement came from. A few weeks ago, two bands from that movement played back-to-back dates at the Post-Gazette Pavillion in the Pittsburgh area. The DMB played first and then the next night came Phish to play at exactly the same venue. This makes for one of the best weekends that you’re going to see at a non-festival concert venue all summer. As always, DMB did a great job with its music.

DMB Beats out Eminem

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

Eminem started selling his newest album last week, but the DMB is better. Big Whiskey was able to put the rappers album down to number two, despite a strong showing, and despite the fact that Whiskey has been out for several years already. It will be interesting to see how that keeps going. The only band this year that has had more first week sales is U2 with their No Line on the Horizon. But at the same time, DMB is still selling so much better than anything else that is currently selling, sitting at the top. They are also doing well in the Billboard charts at this point. We hope Dave is getting a chance to appreciate how well it’s going despite the business of being on the road.
