When you are interested in seeing Dave Matthews in person, you will be able to look at the group in person. Let’s say that you’re someone who can’t make it to one of the concerts in person. Or you don’t want to wait all that time until the show comes to an area near you. Instead, you might want to watch it on the internet. It was announced over the weekend that the website Hulu will be streaming one of his first concerts this year live at the beginning of June. It will be an exciting evening on June1. The concert will also appear on Fuse Network, a channel devoted to music. Click here for more details.

Big News

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

Dave Matthews did an interview on NBC this week in which he told us that the band almost broke up a couple years ago. Why? He says it was like a marriage. The group had been together for more than a decade and they were in a bit of a rut. They hadn’t released much in the way of their own music, nor had they been getting along on their own either. Sometimes they’d get angry or argue. Finally, Dave jumped up and said that he thought that it was silly to be this way, so fix it! So they started making their own music, doing some improv music together and having a lot of fun. He said that it’s sad that LeRoi passed away when things were so good, but he’s also happy for him to have ended happily.

Leak!

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

The Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, the new Dave Matthews Band album, has been leaked out a little bit. In Puerto Rico, it appears that a Starbucks accidentally played part of the album over their PA system and a customer recognized it. When this was reported, people called all the Starbucks in the world, it seems, but no one else said that they had it. It seems like it was part of an early promotion that it was available to the Starbucks at all and perhaps they weren’t aware when they should play it first. Anyway, that’s as big a leak as we have seen of the new album, which officially comes out in a couple weeks. This is, however, going to be a fantastic album, so get ready!

Charity

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

The Dave Matthews Band will be performing a live charity concert on the Fuse network shortly. This concert will be designed to raise some money for their charity, DMB’s Bama Works Fund, that will help various projects in their home town of Charlottesville VA and help people in difficult situations out there. This charity will kick off quite a bit of original programming about the band, including a long documentary about their journey in the music world. After that, the DMB will be continuing their world tour in a lot of states around the country and then other parts of the world too. Make sure not to miss this music when they perform on June 1!

Quiet

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

The Dave Matthews world is pretty quiet right now. He’s off on tour and recording here and there now as well. He’s doing quite well and it’s always interesting to hear the responses to the concerts. It’s not that the response is bad, although they are kind of repetitive. But it does make a person a little bit jealous when you think about how much fun all the other fans are having while I don’t get a chance to see the band for at least a few more weeks. The countdown has begun, but it’s not fun waiting. So I just turn up the volume on the CDs and wait until my turn to see them comes out!

Good Concerts

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

The Dave Matthews Band is doing very well these days and people are really having a great time at these concerts. The reports are that they are playing a mixture of new and old songs during their concerts, some of the older ones sound a little bit different because they’ve changed the arrangements slightly. But that’s normal. Despite the small cast changes this year, we’re happy that the band is doing great and sounding as good as ever. The concert starts with Dave on his own onstage. It’s a nice way to start the show and then they add people along the way. Make sure not to miss him in your area. I know I keep saying that, but I really don’t think we should miss him, because he keeps getting better and better.

Seeger

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

Pete Seeger is now 90 years old. This weekend, there was a big celebration concert for his birthday and it was a nice event. If you were there you would’ve seen a fun show with a lot of different famous musicians involved. Springsteen was there. But of course, our friend Dave Matthews was there. He sang quite well too: he sang a stirring rendition of Rye Whiskey. The NYTimes says that is was “overly precious” but it was really more respectful than anything else. We’re not sure if he played the banjo too, like a lot of the other performers there, but it was a lot of fun to hear him sing one of these great songs for one of the icons of folk music!

Unhappy Fans

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

There were some unhappy Dave Matthews fans this week. But don’t worry, they weren’t unhappy with the music or the concert. They were just unhappy after the concert, when two fans, a boyfriend and girlfriend, started to argue in the parking lot. They were a little drunk and she bit him. He got upset and it became a scuffle. The police said that neither wanted to file charges, they just wanted to leave the other’s presence. This isn’t really a story about the DMB, but it’s just one of those interesting things that happens at concerts. Feel free to send over your own stories of things that happened to you at a DMB concert!
