The Austin City Limits Music Festival, down in Texas is always one of the most fun festivals in the concert going world! They always have one of the most talented lineups with a lot of the top groups in the world. This year, they have proven it by bringing in the Dave Matthews Band! Dave hasn’t been to this festival before, even though it has grown into one of the best festivals in the US over the last few years. It is similar to Coachella and some other festivals. His debut on the Austin stage will be greatly anticipated, as will that of Pearl Jam, Beastie Boys and B-52s! Check out the full lineup here.

Pass

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

The DMB released a new iTunes pass this week. This is kind of a strange system, and I’m not sure how it works, to be honest. But they will get a free download of one of their songs as soon as they sign up. Secondly, they will get the new album as soon as it’s released in June. This is a great deal for any DMB fan, that’s for sure. Of course, you can always just buy the CD when it comes out, but registering with their new pass will also let iTunes know that you like them, in case it doesn’t know so yet. It’s a great time to be a Dave Matthews fan, that’s for sure!

Strong Review

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

The reviewers have all been raving about the new Dave Matthews Band concerts. He performed last week in his hometown of Charlottesville, VA. It’s a beautiful city and he brings a beautiful sound to it everytime. The performance itself was, apparently, as mesmerizing as ever, with the band showing great chemistry and strength together. These players haven’t been together forever, as the newest member just joined last year after the untimely demise of LeRoi. The band is still great, and the fans were so very supportive. I know some of you were there too, right? Anyone have some comment on these shows? Leave a comment!

Whiskey for Moore

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

The new song “Whiskey” from the DMB is about LeRoi Moore, honoring his life and his work. Moore passed away last year following an ATV accident. It’s kind of a sad song, but it’s a very fitting way to honor him. I will have to listen to it some more to know whether they threw in some saxophone part that will show a little bit of what he did. Maybe they even put in some clips of him playing. Anyway, it’s been described as a beautiful song and a great send-off for him!

“Billboard”

Posted in: DMB

The Dave Matthews band is receiving good reviews from “Billboard” magazine about their upcoming CD, Big Whiskey And the GrooGrux King. Billboard asked the band how this CD reflects the passing of LeRoi Morre who actually did some recording on the CD before his death in August of 2008. On the new CD fans can hear songs like Funny The Way It Is, Shake Me Like A Monkey, and Sister which is played on a 12 string guitar. There is also a song which labeled Cockadile, which makes reference about Dave’s daughter Stella and the studio dog named Oliver. The article in Billboard also talks about LeRoi work which is featured throughout the album and is a major part emotionally for the band.

Don’t Mention the Bus..

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

We hate to bring it up. The whole 2004 bus incident…you know, when the DMB was driving through Chicago and dumped their load of human waste into the Chicago River from the underside of the bus. It was an unfortunate situation, because the band was in a fair amount of trouble because of the incident, as there was an architectural tour underneath. Well, similarly, Keith Urban had a similar incident in New York City the other day where they just left their waste on the street. You’d think, with all the places that these tour buses go, they’d be able to figure out what the rules are and follow them. They know that they could get in a lot of trouble if they do it wrong, so why not just get it right?

Posted in: DMB

The DMB will be on a great TV show on June 5th. They will be on the Today Show on NBC. It’s going to be fun, and it’s part of the show’s series of concerts from many different big-name bands in the next couple of months. The series also includes No Doubt, Fall Out Boy, and the Black Eyed Peas. The Dave Matthews Band is going to be in a major set of concerts in the next months and they will be promoting new albums and a DVD as well. We DMB fans will be having a great summer, because they are going to be so visible and present that you can see them play in a bunch of different places.
