Moore

The DMB will be releasing the last performance of LeRoi later this year. It will the next LiveTrax album in the upcoming months. He last performed on 28 June 2008, just a short time before his untimely passing. It’s sad that he passed away, but the DMB has done an admirable job of honoring him since then. They have also picked a very good replacement in Mr. Coffin. The money they earn from the LiveTrax album will be donated to local charities in the Charlottesville, VA area, where Moore lived. The charities are to promote youth and music, just as was his passion.

10K Part 2

I just wanted to add to the information about the Dave Matthews Band’s appearance at the 10,000 Lakes Festival this summer. There is an article with an interview of the organizers, who were asked a few questions about the decision. They say that they wanted to widen their fan base for the festival. Some people really like it but some people don’t. Not that it’s a bad thing, and it’s normal for that kind of response to come, especially with a bigger decision like this one. And I imagine there will be a lot more people who come to see the festival, because they have a national caliber band in the lineup this time.

10K

Our favorite band will be playing this spring at the 10, 000 Lakes festival near Detroit Lakes Minnesota. It’s going to be a really nice time. The festival has been having trouble getting people to come and play, let alone come and listen. I think DMB will be very helpful in making the festival more popular and probably bringing a lot more people in. It’s going to be fun. There are some other small bands, including Wilco, Widespread Panic (for two nights), Umphrey’s McGee, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Tea Leaf Green, Railroad Earth, Junior Brown, Cloud Cult, Trampled by Turtles and others. I don’t really know much about the other ones, but DMB will probably get me up there.

Begun

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

Now that we have that out of the way, we have some real news to report. It’s not so much new as it is unreported. The DMB has begun recording their new CD this last week. They are recording in New Orleans, LA, at the Piety Street Recording Studio. Now don’t just charge in there excited. I’m sure they have been able to spare a few Secret Service people from the Inauguration to keep things in check down there. But you can at least go to google maps and find out where it is, and then print it out to add to your at-home knock-down DMB shrine.

Grave Error

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

Well, it happened and it was my own fault. STUPID! But what’s done is done…and can’t be changed. As you’re surely aware, January 9th was Dave’s birthday. As you’re then also aware…(deep breath, “c’mon man, you do do this”) I…I-I did not wi…wish Dave a Happy Birthday. I can only hope that any one out there (Dave especially) can forgive me for my blunder. I tried to make excuses at first like, “Oh I had work and forgot” or “I lost track of the date” or “I had to take my mother to the hospital that day after she was hit by a milk truck,” but in the end I know it’s just that: excuses. I am responsible for my own shortcomings and deserve a full chastisement. Dave, you have the free right to spit in my face and call me scum. If you don’t have time, you can just spit into an envelope, mail it to me, and I will project it at my own face. I apologize Dave. Please accept my humble apology. And, if it’s not too late…Happy Belated Birthday.

Coffin

Posted in: DMB

As was expected, Jeff Coffin officially joined the Dave Matthews Band at the beginning of the year. He had taken the place of LeRoi Moore during the 2008 tour, after Moore passed away from injuries he sustained in an accident. Coffin fits in well with the band, though his writing isn’t nearly as well known as that of Moore. It’s a bittersweet moment, but it’s nice to know where the band is headed now, finally. The next tour begins in late April, so it’s going to be a really exciting time!

Interview with Fake Dave Matthews

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

Dave Matthews’ band has a copycat out there. It is seditious and dangerous. It stalks the DMB around to hear their music so that they can further parrot it to people who lovingly eat it up. They don’t like to mix metaphors like that. They take on the DMB personas and may or may not tell people that they aren’t, in fact, led by a South African musician. We are talking about the Dave Matthews Tribute Band. The band is an exciting kind of group with lots of great songs. But they’re songs that they stole. Forget about those pictures I wrote about last time. Compare the two pictures this time! And read the interview with this imposter.

Which Is Better?

Okay, so I’ve gotten into a little argument with my friends about which photo of Dave is better. Friend A (let’s call him Jonathon Sanghor) likes the black/white photo and friend B (Eric Mohslin) likes the other. I, on the other hand, feel that it is a matter of right hand, left hand. They are both equal, only different. The first one, for example, is a great snap shot of “tough guy” Dave. The one that can protect me if I am ever in danger. I can just see him saying to some ruffian “Why I oughta!” in that picture. But toughness is not a complete man. And that’s where the second photo comes into play. How sensitive does he look!? OMG! It’s like he’s saying, “And how was your day honey?” Like I said, both are equal.
