Matthews talks about recording

Posted by: Greg

In an interview with inrich.com, Dave Matthews talked about his choice of Barack Obama, and the passing of his saxophonist Leroi Moore this last summer. He described how tough it was to go through that while on tour and the influence Moore’s music has had on his style. The band leader also discussed how he wants to change the way that they go about the process of recording and performing.  He says that in the past they have tried to go quickly in the studio so that they can get back out onstage as soon as possible. Now, though, he says he would prefer taking his time in the studio, to make higher quality recordings and and spend a little less time on the road. It’s an interesting interview.

Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds played a concert yesterday for the campaign of Barack Obama.  The concert was in Richmond, VA, at the ALLTEL Pavilion.  It was free to any Virginia residents, though tickets were required. The main idea of the concert was to urge Virginians to go out and vote in next week’s presidential election, and, in fact, to vote for Barack Obama.  Dave Matthews has supported the Obama campaign for some time now, and has also been involved in other political causes. He and Reynolds also performed earlier this year to encourage people in other states to register to vote, in a concert entitled “Change Rocks.”

New album coming up?

Dave Matthews

There is a short statement on the Dave Matthews Band Wikipedia page, which reads: “In an interview with Rolling Stone Argentina, Dave Matthews claimed that the band’s next album is currently scheduled to be released in early 2009.”  If this is true, it would be their first album in over a year, and the first since the passing of founding member Leroi Moore.  Longtime fans will likely notice his absence, but surely the Dave Matthews Band will produce yet another great album.  Moore passed away last summer, after an ATV accident.  The band finished their tour and are apparently working on this new album.  We’re looking forward to it!

Dave Matthews Still The Same

Posted by: Greg

Posted in: DMB

Here’s the latest on Dave Matthews: nothing. Dave Matthews and his superband have gone on somewhat of a hiatus as of late, not even posting news on their own website. Though they have reminded people to vote for the upcoming presidential election, they have not reminded the world that they are still a band for quite some time. There’s been no tour or new studio releases as of lately. Perhaps it is just the calm of the storm before a new batch of acoustic guitar/falsetto voice songs hits the market. Dave Matthews Band fans can only hope and wait.

Here’s a trip down memory lane.

Geez I dont remember this video being so awful, do you?

Anyways, there’s no real news in the Dave Matthews world as of late.

The band wanted to make sure you registered to vote but the deadline has already passed so nevermind. In some states there is a grace period that extends until the 21st but you have to cast your ballot when you register.
