The year 2005 was a hectic year in the calendar of the South African music legend, Dave Matthews. In the early part of 2005, Dave Matthews and his band launched a website www.dmbnewstudioalbum.com that had the video footage as well as the updates pertaining to the ongoing album. The spring of 2005 saw Dave Matthews Band embark on their first trip to Australia where they performed in four theater shows. This was followed by the DMB performing in the 36th New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and they released their hit sixth studio album, Stand Up in May 2005.
The Dave Matthews Band hosted a two day Island Getaway festival at Randall Island in New York. Their summer tour of 2005 was considered to be an epic and was the most admired shows of the Dave Matthews Band’s career thus far as it had special lighting and stage designs by the acclaimed director Fenton Williams. DMB’s Bama Works Village Recovery Fund partnered with CARE in 2005 to bring in happiness to the lives of the Tsunami affected people in Sri Lanka. The Dave Matthews Band also performed in a concert to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The band also came up with many CD releases in the year 2005.
