Stefan LessardFire destroyed the house of Dave Matthews Band bassist’s, Stefan Lessard, which is located in Charlottesville, Virginia and built in 2001. Luckily, Lessard and his son managed to escape from the house on fire unharmed. The fire started outside the cedar shake house and brought the damage worth of $880,000. According to the words of Lee Catlin, a spokeswoman for Albermarle Country, arson is not suspected.

DMB allows fans to record the majority of their live shows and permits not-for-profit trading of the recordings. Dave Matthews Band cites college students trading the tapes in the early ‘90s as a key reason for their fame. DMB and its management worked with the United States federal government in ‘96 to launch a crackdown on for-profit bootleggers. It resulted in numerous arrests of those responsible for illegally manufacturing and selling copies of Dave Matthews Band material

DMBIn late September 1994, Dave Matthews Band released their 1st album, entitled Under the Table and Dreaming. The LP featured their 1st commercial hits “Satellite,” “What Would You Say,” and “Ants Marching.” The record was dedicated “In memory of Anne” for Matthews’ elder sister Anne, who was killed by her own husband in 1994. Under the Table and Dreaming and the following release, called Crash brought the music group national attention, that culminated in a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for the song “So Much to Say.”

The Best of What’s Around Vol. 1 is the most recent hits compilation album by the Dave Matthews Band that was released in November 2006. The 2 CD set is the band’s 1st ever greatest hits album. It features 12 studio tracks on the 1st disc, as well as 8 previously unreleased live songs on the 2nd disc. Inside the CD case of Live Trax Vol. 6 there was an advertisement for The Best of What’s Around Vol. 1. The advertisement was incorrectly claiming that “Where Are You Going” was to be among the studio tracks appearing on disc 1, and that the compilation was to be released on November 6, but not November 7.

Yesterday, AT&T Inc. announced an agreement with Dave Matthews Band that gives customers 1st-ever access to selected ringtones. The initial offer that was made will be followed by a wider range of the most popular music group’s ringtones. It is the 1st time that the band ringtones have been available through any wireless carrier. AT&T delivers Dave Matthews Band’s ringtones from popular songs, like “Ants Marching,” and many more.

David John Matthews, a famous singer, song-writer, lead vocalist and guitarist of the Dave Matthews Band, has also played in three feature films and now he is taking part in the fourth. His first role was Will Coleman in “Where the Red Fern Grows” based on the novel. In the 2005 he played Otis (shy cousin of the proprietor of a pet-shop) in “Because of Winn-Dixie”. In 2007 he had a short episode in “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry” (a role of a homosexual salesman). Now David is starring with Sissy Spacek and Troy Garity in the movie “Lake City”.

The first portion of DMB’s 2007 shows included a two-week jaunt through Australia and a two-night Las Vegas engagement. The band’s Vegas performance took place at the MGM Grand Hotel on March 23-24, featuring The Fray in the opening slot for both shows.The Australian tour started at West Coast Blues & Roots Festival in Freemantle, near Perth, on March 31, followed by a bi-coastal appearance the following week at the April 6 East Coast Blues & Roots Festival in Byron Bay. The band tackled vigorously seven shows in six Australian cities during its outing down under, capped by an April 13 show in Melbourne.

Dave Matthews Band gave a concert on September 8, 2007 in front of 50,000+ fans at the Meadow of Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia. The Dave Matthews Band’s entire performance was just brilliant. The weather was gorgeous, and the DMB started their extraordinary show called “The Green Concert” with the very apropos One Sweet World. Then Two Step, so popular among thousands of fans, followed.
Dave Matthews Band performed with absolute unrestrained energy and enthusiasm at the Atlanta benefit show which raised more than $1 million to aid in the 53-acre expansion of the historic park.

The Dave Matthews Band

The glorious Dave Matthews Band will perform two free concerts at United States Military Academy at West Point next week. The concerts will be held strictly for cadets, as they convinced the Dave Matthews Band to play for the US Military Academy at a nationwide contest. If you are not a future officer, you won’t be allowed to attend the concert, but we will write about how it all went in our future entries, so make sure to visit this blog. We will place photos and videos here, so drop by and enjoy.

The Dave Matthews Band has a bright event scheduled for this month! The band is going to play for Army football at two free shows. The thing is that the U.S. Military Academy won a victory over Air Force, Navy and over 100 other colleges that participated in the World’s Loudest Pep Rally contest. As a present, they got a visit of the famous rock star – the Dave Matthews Band have been chosen to arrive and perform in front of cadets on Nov. 14 and 15.We expect that the show will be very well received, because a plenty of football players are great fans of Dave Matthews.
